About & markets

The one thing that’s important to me when it comes to my art, is spreading the joy.

I started this buisiness with an Etsy shop, but I didn’t like that I couldn’t quality check every order as it was Print On Demand, and my perfectionism was kind of preventing me from thriving in that.

Going out into the real world and developing my own stall at several markets was a great step. I got to meet so many amazing people, got to really know my audience, and was able to grow in a very short time. I learned to ask for help and advice, try out new things, and let go of being overly perfectionistic.

Having someone buy an artwork and walk away, grinning from ear to ear – it’s the best feeling in the world.

Here you can see my very first stall, at the Maandelijkse Markt in Klein Wetsinge, in May 2024. Unfortunately, it was their second to last ever market.

This market was such a great place to start out. There were a lot of art lovers there, and the people that organized it were clearly very passionate about this project.

As I don’t have a car, I’m dependent on others to drive me to markets that are further away.

I also have a suitcase on wheels so I can travel by bus and train, and a bike trailer for markets in the city of Groningen.

This means my stall needs to be light and fully foldably. It’s days like these I’m glad I didn’t choose to be a sculptor.
